Furthest east lies an area of sweeping beauty, wilderness and hill covered with lush forests.  It borders Sikkim, India.  Trekking is dominated with views of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world.  Accessible from Kathmandu by air to Taplejung or a 2 days drive.  In the far north are alpine meadows beneath the mountain.  In the mid hills are farming communities rich with their ethnic handicrafts.  Itineraries can be shortened using the STOL airfield at Taplejung or a rough ride to the road head below Taplejung only passable during fair weather.

Kanchenjunga trek 18 days

A fine mix of natural beauty and good views; the trail heads northeast through Rai and Limbu farm country, higher up Tibetans and Sherpas graze herds of yak. Impressive views from Ramze and Lapsang la – a trek of upto 3 weeks.  One of the few “easier” wilderness trails, the trek is rewarding in terms of views and culture to be seen
