About Lodge Treks
Nepal is the definitive destination for Lodge Treks as trails and areas cater from the easy to the strenuous. The awe inspiring mountain views, remote village cultures, the excitement of crossing crystal clear streams of snow melt.
Asian – Bhrikuti has a comprehensive list of Lodge to Lodge Trek routes which have been researched allowing for rest days to maximise contact with the local inhabitants of the areas. Now trekkers can avail of remarkably well run home hospitality accommodations even in the highest reaches even upto the Mt Everest Base Camp. Lodge Trek is operated in the Everest, Langtang and Annapurna areas.
All meals and accommodation are catered in lodges along the route. Most are basic facilities with usually accommodations with common toilet or bathing facilities. Rooms could be having 2, 3 or more beds. We can arrange for upgraded stays in more luxury Lodges as a welcome break. If requested in advance and with supplemental cost; rooms with attached facilities could be arranged on most days of the trail. In the more popular trekking months of March, April, October and November early booking is advised.
WHO CAN GO TREKKING ?
Almost anybody, depending on where you choose to go ! Trekking requires that you be in good health and reasonably well conditioned. A regular regimen of balanced exercise, such as walking, running or bicycle riding is all that is needed to achieve a level of fitness for a comfortable trekking pace without excessive exertion.
Trek itineraries are designed so that a person in moderately good shape will have little difficulty achieving each day’s goals. It is good to bear in mind, however, that the better your fitness level, the more you will enjoy from your trekking experience.
GRADE YOURSELF FOR A TREK !
“Easy” * grade is one that involves short hikes of 4 or 5 hrs at low elevations usually not over 3000m.
“Moderate” ** grade is hiking over undulating terrain uphill and downhill loss or gain of upto 1000m for 5 to 6 hrs per day at elevations usually below 4500m.
“Moderate to Challenging” *** grade trails include going across high passes of over 4500m and walks of not less than 6 hrs per day at altitudes over + 4500m.
“Strenuous” ****grade is trekking through steep terrain, longer hours, calling for exerting oneself over steep undulating trail and frequent narrow paths. Often needing basic mountaineering skills like use of crampons and ice axe.
A DAY ON A LODGE TO LODGE TREK
A trek is similar to a day hike only of longer duration and all you carry is what you need for the day in a on your daypack / daysac – water, camera and a light jacket. Your personal duffel is carried by porter. You will have access to this only at the end of day.
The day begins early 6am / 6.30am for breakfast, with a lunch stop in between 1pm / 2pm and dinner 7pm / 8pm.
You need only to enjoy the hike from camp to camp at your own pace with a trek guide. If in a group, expect an assistant guide at the head of the group, one in the middle and one at the rear. Distances average 6 to 8 kms per day over 5.30hrs to 6 hrs depending on the trail of the day and your own pace of walking.
Choose a Lodge Trek to enjoy the breath taking beauty of the Nepal Himalayas !
